Banking GDC: A Secure Offshore Innovation Hub
Establishing a 50-person secure development center for a Tier-1 Bank.
The Challenge
F.G Bank suffered from 'Vendor Fatigue'. Managing 20 disparate vendors caused integration nightmares and security risks. They needed to modernize their Core Banking System but couldn't find enough local talent in Singapore. They wanted a dedicated, secure offshore extension that felt like their own office, not a vendor.
The Solution
GTEMAS built a Global Delivery Center (GDC). Security: We established a physical 'Clean Room' with biometric access and VDI infrastructure, ensuring no data left the bank's network. Structure: We organized into 'Tribes' mirroring the bank's structure (Payments, Lending, Digital). Talent: We recruited 32 highly specialized engineers, mixing Legacy (Cobol) maintenance with Modernization (Java) squads.
Architectural Strategy
Secure VDI tunnel. Hybrid cloud using OpenShift for microservices wrapping legacy mainframes.
Impact & Achievements
The GDC became the bank's primary engine for innovation, delivering the new Mobile Banking App 4 months ahead of schedule. The bank regained control over its IP and engineering culture.
Savings vs Onshore
Engineers onboarded
Passed MAS/Internal audits
